Get ready for the invasion of giant puppets! As big as real people, moving about, nay, fighting, and displaying masculine valour and cunning on a grand stage, the puppets tell two famous chapters in the great macho Chinese novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. So once upon a time, in the 3rd century actually, there were three kingdoms ruled by three kings who all wanted to be ruler of the whole Middle China. Well you can imagine how they would go about this enterprise....

The two chapters are 'The Three Visits of Supplication' and 'The Battle of the Red Cliff'. Liu Bei, ruler of the smallest kingdom Shu, visits the brilliant military strategist Kongming three times at his bungalow to seek his assistance. Thus moved, Kongming agrees to help. And so at the Red Cliff, the greatest battle in the novel, Shu teams up with the kingdom Wu and defeats the powerful and fierceful kingdom Wei.

San Guo Zhi has fascinated millions of viewers in Japan and the world over, and garnered rave reviews everywhere. The critics' favourite adjectives are: 'stunning' , 'magnificent' and 'dazzling'. Their vocabulary may be small, but they are so right!
